sien as perk van jou vermoë;
word bepaal deur wat jy glo;

Om van die wêreld om en in jou
te bewaar vir dié wat kom;
om alles wat die lewe inhou
na te speur tot by die bron.

Om te verfyn wat onvolmaak is,
die gees se vlugte vas te pen;
om aan te gryp wie ongeraak is,
om skerp te kyk en diep te ken;

en in jou grootheid klein te bly;
om te bepeins wat nooit gedink is
en jou neerlae te bely.

Om voort te gaan as ander ophou,
selfs van vooraf te begin;

·  op die aard van my/die lewe;
·  op my synde as sodanig;
·  op my geloof;
·  op my toekomsverwagtinge;

{Soos wat oorlog die voortsetting van diplomasie op ’n ander wyse is, só is “dood”die voortsetting van die lewe in ’n ander (verskynings)vorm.}

Sir Isaac Newton het by geleentheid geskryf (sonder erkenning, soos dit blyk): “If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.”
We are like dwarfs on the shoulders of giants, so that we can see more than they, and things at a greater distance, not by virtue of any sharpness of sight on our part, or any physical distinction, but because we are carried high and raised up by their giant size.”)

Op dié wyse vind ek my posisie in ’n wanordelike universum.

... en in pragtige, perfekte Ptolmaïse konsentriese sirkels brei dié insig uit van mý na my gesin, na my volk en verder na dié wat wíl...

O Wye en Droewe Land

O wye en droewe land, alleen
onder die groot suidersterre.
Sal nooit ’n hoë blydskap kom
deur jou stil droefenis?
Jy ken die pyn en eensaam lye
van onbewuste enkelinge,
die verre sterwe op die veld,
die klein begrafenis;

eenvoudige mense wat getrou
en enkeld bitter dinge doen,
en enkeld val soos korrels saad;
stil daad, klein trou, klein trouloosheid
van dié wat om ’n ander diens
soos knegte jou verlaat.

Sal nooit ’n magtige skoonheid kom
oor jou soos die haelwit somerwolk
wat uitbloei oor jou donker berge,
en nooit in jou ’n daad geskied
wat opklink oor die aarde en
die jare in hul onmag terge;

’n grootsheid van so suiwer glans,
dat mense in ’n verre land
wat van jou naam die melding hoor,
met wilde en helder oog sal staar
soos vroeë vaarders in die nag
verslae gesien het kim bo kim
die nuwe, blom-groot sterre styg
óp uit jou see se wit gevaar?

Washington’s War Against Russia

By Paul Craig Roberts

September 15, 2014 "ICH" - The new sanctions against Russia announced by Washington and Europe do not make sense as merely economic measures. I would be surprised if Russian oil and military industries were dependent on European capital markets in a meaningful way. Such a dependence would indicate a failure in Russian strategic thinking. The Russian companies should be able to secure adequate financing from Russian Banks or from the Russian government. If foreign loans are needed, Russia can borrow from China.

If critical Russian industries are dependent on European capital markets, the sanctions will help Russia by forcing an end to this debilitating dependence. Russia should not be dependent on the West in any way.

The real question is the purpose of the sanctions. My conclusion is that the purpose of the sanctions is to break up and undermine Europe’s economic and political relations with Russia. When international relations are intentionally undermined, war can be the result. Washington will continue to push sanctions against Russia until Russia shows Europe that there is a heavy cost of serving as Washington’s tool.

Russia needs to break up this process of ever more sanctions in order to derail the drive toward war. In my opinion this is easy for Russia to do. Russia can tell Europe that since you do not like our oil companies, you must not like our gas company, so we are turning off the gas. Or Russia can tell Europe, we don’t sell natural gas to NATO members, or Russia can say we will continue to sell you gas, but you must pay in rubles, not in dollars. This would have the additional benefit of increasing the demand for rubles in exchange markets, thus making it harder for speculators and the US government to drive down the ruble.

The real danger to Russia is a continuation of its low-key, moderate response to the sanctions. This is a response that encourages more sanctions. To stop the sanctions, Russia needs to show Europe that the sanctions have serious costs for Europe.

A Russian response to Washington would be to stop selling to the US the Russian rocket engines on which the US satellite program is dependent. This could leave the US without rockets for its satellites for six years between the period 2016 and 2022.

Possibly the Russian government is worried about losing the earnings from gas and rocket engine sales. However, Europe cannot do without the gas and would quickly abandon its participation in the sanctions, so no gas revenues would be lost. The Americans are going to develop their own rocket engine anyhow, so the Russian sales of rocket engines to the US have at most about 6 more years. But the US with an impaired satellite program for six years would mean a great relief to the entire world from the American spy program. It would also make difficult US military aggression against Russia during the period.

Russian President Putin and his government have been very low-key and unprovocative in responding to the sanctions and to the trouble that Washington continues to cause for Russia in Ukraine. The low-key Russian behavior can be understood as a strategy for undermining Washington’s use of Europe against Russia by presenting a non-threatening face to Europe. However, another explanation is the presence inside Russia of a fifth column that represents Washington’s interest and constrains the power of the Russian government.

Saker describes the two power groups inside Russia as the Eurasian Sovereignists who stand behind Putin and an independent Russia and the Atlantic Integrationists, the fifth column that works to incorporate Russia in Europe under US hegemony or, failing that, to help Washington break up the Russian Federation into several weaker countries that are too weak to constrain Washington’s use of power.http://vineyardsaker.blogspot.com.br/2014/09/strelkov-from-swimming-with-piranhas-to.html

Russia’s Atlantic Integrationists share the Brzezinski and Wolfowitz doctrines with Washington. These doctrines are the basis for US foreign policy. The doctrines define the goal of US foreign policy in terms of preventing the rise of other countries, such as Russia and China, that could limit Washington’s hegemony.

Washington is in a position to exploit the tensions between these two Russian power groups. Washington’s fifth column is not best positioned to prevail. However, Washington can at least count on the struggle causing dissent within the Eurasian Sovereignists over Putin’s low-key response to Western provocations. Some of this dissent can be seen in Strelkov’s defense of Russia and more can be seen here:http://slavyangrad.org/2014/09/13/the-new-round-of-sanctions-the-pre-war-period/#more-3665

Russia, thinking the Cold War ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union, opened herself to the West. Russian governments trusted the West, and as a result of Russia’s gullibility, the West was able to purchase numerous allies among the Russian elites. Depending on the alignment of the media, these compromised elites are capable of assassinating Putin and attempting a coup.

One would think that by now Putin’s government would recognize the danger and arrest the main elements of the fifth column, followed by trial and execution for treason, in order that Russia can stand united against the Western Threat. If Putin does not take this step, it means either than Putin does not recognize the extent of the threat or that his government lacks the power to protect Russia from the internal threat.

It is clear that Putin has not achieved any respite for his government from the West’s propaganda and economic assault by refusing to defend the Donbass area from Ukrainian attack and by pressuring the Donetsk Republic into a ceasefire when its military forces were on the verge of a major defeat of the disintegrating Ukrainian army. All Putin has achieved is to open himself to criticism among his supporters for betraying the Russians in eastern and southern Ukraine.

The European politicians and elites are so deeply in Washington’s pocket that Putin has little chance of courting Europe with a Russian show of good will. I have never believed that this strategy could work, although I would be pleased if it did. Only a direct threat to deprive Europe of energy has a chance of producing within Europe a foreign policy independent of Washington. I do not think Europe can survive a cutoff of the Russian natural gas. Europe would abandon sanctions in order to guarantee the flow of gas. If Washington’s hold on Europe is so powerful that Europe is willing to endure a major disruption of its energy supply as the price of its vassalage, Russia will know to cease its futile attempts at diplomacy and to prepare for war.

If China sits on the sidelines, China will be the next isolated target and will receive the same treatment.
Washington intends to defeat both countries, either through internal dissent or through war.

Nothing said by Obama or any member of his government or any influential voice in Congress has signaled any pullback in Washington’s drive for hegemony over the world.

The US economy is now dependent on looting and plunder, and Washington’s hegemony is essential to this corrupted form of capitalism.

SCOTLAND THE BRAVE - SO DAPPER SOOS AFRIKANERS

I was listening to the news the other day
I heard a fat politician who had the nerve to say
He was proud to be Scottish, by the way
With the glories of our past to remember
"Here's tae us, wha's like us", listen to the cry
No surrender to the truth and here's the reason why
The power and the glory's just another bloody lie
They use to keep us all in line

For there's no gods and there's precious few heroes
But there's plenty on the dole in the land o the leal
And it's time now to sweep the future clear
Of the lies of a past that we know was never real

Farewell to the heather in the glen
They cleared us off once and they'd do it all again
For they still prefer sheep to thinking men
Ah, but men who think like sheep are even better
There's nothing much to choose between the old laird and the new
They still don't give a damn for the likes of me and you
Just mind you pay your rent to the factor when it's due
And mind your bloody manners when you pay!

For there's no gods and there's precious few heroes
But there's plenty on the dole in the land o the leal
And it's time now to sweep the future clear
Of the lies of a past that we know was never real

And tell me will we never hear the end
Of puir bluidy Charlie at Culloden yet again?
Though he ran like a rabbit down the glen
Leavin better folk than him to be butchered
Or are you sittin in your Council house, dreamin o your clan?
Waiting for the Jacobites to come and free the land?
Try going down the broo with your claymore in your hand
And count all the Princes in the queue!

For there's no gods and there's precious few heroes
But there's plenty on the dole in the land o the leal
And it's time now to sweep the future clear
Of the lies of a past that we know was never real

So don't talk to me of Scotland the Brave
For if we don't fight soon there'll be nothing left to save
Or would you rather stand and watch them dig your grave
While you wait for the Tartan Messiah?
He'll lead us to the Promised Land with laughter in his eye
We'll all live on the oil and the whisky by and by
Free heavy beer! Pie suppers in the sky! -
Will we never have the sense to learn?

That there's no gods and there's precious few heroes
But there's plenty on the dole in the land o the leal
And I'm damned sure that there's plenty live in fear
Of the day we stand together with our shoulders at the wheel
Aye there's no Gods

Anti-terror operation in Sydney and Brisbane 'thwarted' beheading plot

Updated
Police say a large-scale anti-terrorism raid in Sydney this morning has foiled a plot to "commit violent acts" in Australia, including a plan to behead a member of the public.
More than 800 officers launched the raids as part of Operation Appleby in suburbs across Sydney's west and north-west, with a further 70 police involved in raids on properties in Brisbane's south.
Police said 15 people had been detained in Sydney as part of the operation between NSW officers, the Australian Federal Police and ASIO.
Court documents are expected to reveal that the raids, at 25 different properties, were aimed at a cell which planned to behead a member of the public in Sydney.
The documents are expected to say that the plan involved snatching a random member of the public in Sydney, draping them in an Islamic State group (IS) flag and beheading them on camera.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott said he was briefed last night on the operation, adding that the intelligence received by police gave "not just suspicion" but "intent".
"The exhortations, quite direct exhortations, were coming from an Australian who is apparently quite senior in ISIL to networks of support back in Australia to conduct demonstration killings here in this country," he said, using another acronym for IS.
"That's why the police and security agencies decided to act in the way they have."
Mr Abbott will cut short his visit to Arnhem Land today to farewell RAAF crews heading to the Middle East and to attend security briefings on the terror raids in Sydney.

'Right now is a time for calm'

He said the operation commenced earlier this year and had interrupted a terrorist attack in Australia.
"Police believe that this group that we have executed this operation on today had the intention and had started to carry out planning to commit violent acts here in Australia," he said.
"Those violent acts particularly related to random acts against members of the public."
Commissioner Colvin said the raids in Brisbane were not "directly linked" to the raids in Sydney, but authorities were looking to see whether there were any links.
He said the Brisbane raids were linked to a similar operation in Queensland last week, when an Islamic bookshop was searched, and two men arrested.
NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said the raids reflected "the reality of the threat we actually face".
"You know it is of serious concern that right at the heart of our communities we have people that are planning to conduct random attacks," he said.
"Today we work together to make sure that didn't happen. We have disrupted that particular attack.
"Our police will continue to work tirelessly to prevent any such attacks but certainly can I stress that right now is a time for calm.
"We don't need to whip this up."
He said cars were also searched in the raids and at least one weapon was seized.
A total of 25 search warrants were executed in the Sydney suburbs of Beecroft, Bellavista, Guildford, Merrylands, Northmead, Wentworthville, Marsfield, Westmead, Castle Hill, Revesby, Bass Hill and Regents Park.
Similar raids took place in Brisbane with officers conducting searches on properties at Creek Road in Mt Gravatt East, as well as Logan and Underwood.
The men have been accused of helping to recruit, facilitate and fund people to travel to Syria to engage in hostile activities.
Queensland Police Minister Jack Dempsey has sought to assure people in the state that they were safe.
"Obviously with the lead-in to G20 we're already at a certain risk level which ensures that Queenslanders are even safer than most other states and territories in Australia," he said.

Helicopters, loudspeakers involved in Guildford raid

ABC reporter Lucy Carter said part of Bursill Street in Guildford was still blocked off by police, where a home was being raided.
"[Police] are questioning a number of people on the front balcony of a single-storey home," she said.
"Neighbours say police burst into the house before dawn, shouting through loudspeakers and with a helicopter hovering overhead.
"Right now police are removing items including computers from this Guildford home, and a sniffer dog has also been brought in."
Neighbours said the occupants had only lived in the house for about three weeks.
A resident of Bursill Street, who wished to remain anonymous, has been trying to come to terms with the raids.
"I just find it so wrong for that to be happening here in Australia. How do we get to this stage that people are this out of control?" he said.
"You talk about the money going overseas - earlier this morning I heard $18 million or $20 million going overseas, and we don't know about it until it's too late."
Officers are refusing to give more information at this stage, as the operation is still underway.
They say they will provide updates throughout the morning.

Man claims he was punched by officer in raids

One man who was at one of the raided properties when police arrived claims to have been punched by an officer.
Maywand Osman, who was detained during the raids at Waterloo Rd in Marsfield but not arrested, said: "I opened the door this morning at 4:45am to about four police officers."
"They asked me to raise my hands. I immediately raised my hands. Four officers then jumped at me and one punched me in the face.
"They threw me to the ground and started hitting me in the head and pulling my hair.
"One officer grabbed me by the hair and said 'you piece of shit'. While they were beating me I heard one officer say 'just don't make him bleed'.
"They then went inside my house to conduct a search. They found nothing in my house and I was not under arrest or in custody at any point in time."
A statement released by Mr Osman's solicitor said: "My client was brutally attacked by four police officers this morning without provocation."
"He sustained injuries to the face and head. He was escorted to hospital by ambulance."
Commissioner Colvin said he was personally not aware of the claims.

Raids follow terror alert level raise: terrorism expert

Greg Barton, who heads the Global Terrorism Centre at Monash University, said the raids followed the warning issued by ASIO director David Irvine.
On Friday, authorities announced Australia's terror alert level had been lifted to high, meaning the risk of an attack is likely.
"He said there was considerable amounts of intelligence about plots underway and that's why he had to raise the terror alert level," Mr Barton said.
"Of course that begs the question: if they know about plots under the way what are they doing to intercept them? Now we're finding the answers today."
Immigration Minister Scott Morrison told the ABC's AM program that the raids demonstrate the "very real threat that's there".
"I think again [the operation] supports why the Government has been so strong in its response to this threat," he said.
He said the Government was working closely with the Islamic community "more broadly" and that "goodwill exists".
Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull told Radio National this morning that the raids demonstrate Australian authorities are keeping the nation safe.
"Our security is the consequence of continued vigilance and hard work on the part of the security agencies," he said.
"There is no cause, no reason, for being complacent about security.
"There are people regrettably, some of them in our midst, that don't have the nation's best interests at heart."
Ikebal Patel from Muslims Australia told AM that the Islamic community has been stunned by the raids.
"Details are very sketchy and we don't even know who the individuals are and from which particular area, or sort of association they are part of," he said.
"So, it's all very very sketchy. It's all moving very fast."
The ABC understands the raids are linked to a similar operation in Queensland last week, when an Islamic bookshop was searched, and two men arrested.
The men have been accused of helping to recruit, facilitate and fund people to travel to Syria to engage in hostile activities.

Dieudonne under investigation after comparing Islamic State beheadings to French Revolution

The controversial French comedian also claimed the 'Rothschild Mafia' was responsible for the international outrage surrounding the beheading of U.S. journalist James Foley.

French police have opened an investigation into controversial comedian Dieudonné M’bala M’bala for a sketch that both justifies and makes fun of the beheading of American journalist James Foley.
Dieudonné, who has been convicted several times for anti-Semitism, described the execution as a “gateway to civilization” in the sketch, which appeared on YouTube last month, according to France24.com.
He also compared executions by the radical Islamist group Islamic State to the guillotining of royalty and aristocrats during the French Revolution and noted that Western media made no fuss about the execution of the late Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein or the Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi.
The Paris prosecutor’s office said police were starting a preliminary investigation into Dieudonné on the grounds that he had condoned terrorism.
Foley was beheaded by Islamic State militants last month after being kidnapped while covering the Syrian civil war and held for 20 months. The act caused outrage around the world.
It was followed last week by the execution of journalist Steven Sotloff, who held both American and Israeli citizenship.
More than 100 other video sketches by Dieudonné have been removed from YouTube in the past few days.
"The Rothschild Mafia says no, that's OK, but James Foley, that's too much," Dieudonné said in the video, titled "Foley That Was." "I think decapitation symbolizes before anything progress, access to civilization. In France, we decapitated people in front of the masses, on the public plazas."
Dieudonné is credited with inventing the "quenelle," a gesture that critics have likened to an inverted Nazi salute and say carries anti-Semitic overtones.
